So I have been in horrible denial. I have finally admitted to myself that I have no friends here in NY! I don't know why it's so hard for me. I mean I meet new people everyday but I have no one to hang out with ever. What do I do? Where should I look. Should I wear a sign stating "Hi! I'm Diamond and I need friends!" Being at a new school, I didn't expect to have a whole lot of friends, but AU is a huge commuter school. Most students go home on the weekends, so there aren't many chances to gain friendships! Every time I have ventured into the City, I seem to get to know very cool people but in Long Island, the atmosphere is not the same! Any suggestions?
Signed,
A very lonely Girl!
I understand how you feel... I moved to NY almost a year ago, and it's not easy finding friends... I met some cool people at TIme Square Church, off 51st and 8th Avenue. You might want to visit there. Your greatest gift and friendship is with yourself... nurture that relationship and others will follow... and don't forget your very best friend, Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI will visit there, I haven't been to church in a very long time and I really miss going! You are right! God has always been with me. Thank you for the encouraging words.
DeleteI don't know if that's a good idea, but aren't there websites to meet people? Not in the purpose of finding love but I know that it might be easier on the internet. ;-) But well, if 1 day you want to visit Belgium or even Paris, I'd be pleased to meet you and speek with you. :-)
ReplyDeleteI actually really want to visit those places! Hopefully really soon! I have never been that far away and I hear its gorgeous. I will definitely tell you when I am coming!
DeleteHi, let me know if you ever make your way to Europe. Its a small place. Everything is just around the corner. :) Well, I would love to meet you as well. One of my dreams was visiting New York, I fulfilled this dream. Another one would be Shakespeare in the Park with Meryl. Somehow I have the feeling she is going back to stage one day. I missed Mother Courage a few years ago. I wont miss the next opportunity. :) I have been a member of Simply Streep since OMG, I think since like 7 years or so.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of friends but its true, you have to be your best friend....the rest will follow. cheers, Orsi from Hungary
She will be back on the stage in June! Doing Romeo and Juliet!! IF you can, you should definitely try. I will wait in line with you for the free tickets they will give out. Thank you for the encouraging words I am very grateful of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened with Streep? Did she contact you about the brunch-challange? Don't give up!!
